Wtf IS HYPOTHETICAL FUTURE?
Hypothetical Future is a new theatre company based in central North Carolina.
Where are you located?
We have no singular location and expect performance venues to vary by show for the foreseeable future. Follow our socials and stay in contact so you can know when and where our experiences are.
What does “immersive” mean?
It means you will (typically) engage with our work with more degrees of freedom and sensory experience than simply sitting, watching, and listening. This can take many different forms, and the best way to understand it is to experience it for yourself.
What kind of work do you produce?
We produce new works of performance art - usually theatre. “New” is loosely defined and typically includes work created within the last several decades, world premieres, North Carolina premieres, and work that has not been widely or popularly produced.
I am Confused?
That’s okay. Confusion is an opportunity to grow and change, both of which can be scary, but both of which are core parts of what it means to be a living thing in this consensus reality.
Do you ever produce classical work?
Yes, but it’s usually an adaptation. Shakespeare and the Greeks have been done to death, and it’s an important part of our mission to bring fresh, contemporary perspectives to any work we produce. This usually means more than setting Shakespeare in the present.
